We have been busy working in the kitchen.. helping them get ready for their daughter's wedding. Yesterday we made 1500 chicken nuggets. Ugh! By the time they decided to have chicken and salad for lunch... I could not look at any more chicken... It has been cold here lately... but warms up in the day to 65*....Tonight we plan to go out to eat at Captain D's as it is " Senior Night"... There is a lot of activities plan ... church Christmas programs, bell choirs and a Christmas parade this Saturday... Today for Devotions, Tim ask us to tell of a " God Spy" moment.... As we look at things during the day, we are to see God in it... I chose to think of Jesus near Lake Galilee as I look at beautiful Lake Harris out my window... If not that, then I think of Zacchaeus climbing one of these spanish moss covered trees... Are you getting ready for Christmas? We have some decorations up and our Christmas letter mailed out... Merry Christmas!! Carole
Today we tried a new church and attended the Missionary Alliance Church but it was not like this church.. It was a beautiful building and very friendly people and pastor... We visited that church because it is close to the house IF we end up getting that house... Today we drove by and took pictures.... We have been enjoying staying in Mark and Tabitha's house for 3 days while they are up in Orlando and Sea World.. They are coming back home tonight. We are staying here for the week as our m.h. is in the repair shop...A week from tomorrow we start our new Sower project at Camp Horizon over at Leesburg ( north of Disney )... This will be our 4th time there s o we really enjoy Kitty, Steve and Ralph ... Carole
' Santa Claus is Coming to Town.'... Where is his sleigh??? We are through with this Sower project.... Today we washed windows in the dining hall and the library... It has been COLD in the morning... but warms up in the afternoon to about 70*....We leave in the morning for Ocala to drop off the m.h. for repairs and head for a week at Ft.Myers.... Hope it is warmer there. It usually is by 5-10 *.....My snowmen for Wordless Wednesday are the display we got for free for having our prescription filled at Wal Green.... Still have not heard anything on our house... Patience!! Carole
WOW!!! How Great is our GOD!!!! Trying to get your thoughts on bigger things .... Today was good.. Tim and I and Bill painted in the dining hall and finished about 1/2 of the job. Everyone else had to work outside and it was COLD!!! The ladies met this afternoon and shared their craft ideas and talked.. Tomorrow night , we do a FUN thing... at least it was fun when we did it 3 years ago... We all go to Publix's ( grocery store ) and they have a Christmas tasting party..They really do it up BIG and have carolers, Frosty, Santa and lots of samples to try.. egg nog, hot cider, punch, fancy cookies and cheesecakes, etc.. It is a cheap but fun outing.. We took pictures and all.... Looking forward to that ... I'll try to blog some pictures... My pool parties are over as it is forecast for COOLER weather the rest of the time we are here... Friday.... I notice that a lot of you have not been posting lately.. Must be very busy!!!
I love this picture!!! This has been a good day in the Lord!!! We attended a good service this morning at Blessed Hope Baptist.. Was invited to a pot luck at a ladies' home.. about 25 of us... Delicious food!!! Then we went out to the garage to see the baby chicks they just had delivered yesterday...so cute!!! Tim and I went shopping and because I had my prescription filled at Wal Green ( for the first time ) they gave us an in- store check for $25. We had fun buying stuff we really did not need... including a cute snowman display.. After we got back to the m.h. some friends from New Brunswick ( Sandy and Elmer ) came over for a visit... It is COLD out ( 45* ) so the heater sure feels good!!!! Only 4 more working days...Have a great week ....
We spent the week end in Ft. Myers and Cape Coral looking at homes for Sale. There are hundreds of houses but our realtor only showed us 6 .. So far we have choose one to put an offer on . Too early to write much about it as it may be a long time if and when we get it as it is a ' short sale ' and the banks are s-l-o-w------ But IF we do buy that one, it would be a very nice home for us. It has a pool and a hot tub...Mark and Tabitha LOVE it...No.. we are not ' going off the road' or quitting our agenda.. Just slowing down somewhat and enjoying - the Florida life style'!!!!!! We attended the Free Methodist Church in Cape Corral. A lot has changed since we were last there.... music leader, people, etc. Only recognized a few.... Tomorrow starts the 2nd. week of this project. The people are very friendly, the food is delicious!!! the weather is warm and the work is easy ( for me.. harder for Tim ).... pool is GREAT!!!!! The Sower ladies are going out for a lunch on Tuesday to ' The Whole Note '... From the air , this house looks like a whole note in music.. The lady serves lunch from her private home only from 11:30-1:00... Cost $5. for the basic and then $1.00 for each extra: bread, quiche, salad, etc... Different concept.... Have to try it out... Taught the grandkids a new card game.... BOSS.. And I must say they won almost every time!!! So much for that idea... Waiting for comments.. Carole
The blue parachute was one that ended up in the water. They had boats out there to rescue them... Bet the water was COLD!!! This is the river they use for ' white water rapids '.
There are a lot of hills and mts. in W.Va. Any time we drive any where, we have to drive up and down.. We are 3200' elevation..
We drove back to Charleston on Saturday. It is 60 miles through the mts. A few small towns down in the valleys.. The towns are long and narrow as there are mts. on both sides.. most are only 4 blocks wide... quaint white steepled churches and coal mines.... now I understand why so much coal is mined in W.Va........ lots of mts.
We are especially enjoying the fall color as we have not been around it for the past few years. Last year in October, we were in OK. and the year before we were in Missouri , before that we were in Alabama and in '04 we were out in Oregon....but it has been COLD here and we are anxious to head for Florida!!!!
The fall color is at it's peak now! There are very few reds in this area but mainly browns and gold!!! A camera does not do it justice...
Selma and I working in the library.. Only 4 more days to go.. We may finish 1 of the 3 rooms... I have checked out a lot of books for Tim and me to read these 3 weeks..
On Saturday we went with 2 other couples to the New River Gorge Bridge Day. It was COLD but no rain.. There were thousands of people there. Along the bridge they had vendors selling crafts, giving away Bibles, tracts, Obama junk, water bottles and also selling food... That was quite reasonably priced.. We got a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw ( right on the top of the meat.. that is how they serve hamburgs, hot dogs and BBQ's... in West Virginia)..... This is the river below the Bridge as we looked over. There was only parachuting when we were there... The newspaper said 19 were injured in the jumps.. about 1/2 landed in the water with their parachutes... Some jumped in pairs or 3 or 4 and didn't open their chutes until the last minute!!! CRAZY!!!!
As you can tell I am wearing my winter coat and have 2 pair of pants on to keep warm.. It did warm up a little out on the Bridge in the sun..
My certificate to show that I really did walk the Bridge.. over and back... It was over 3000 feet one way plus back to the shuttle bus... Was build in 1977 and is the highest steel trestle bridge East of the Mississippi.... We really had a fun time on Saturday.. Only 4 more days of work and then we will be saying good bye and traveling south to Florida on Saturday.... sunshine!!!
Today Tim and I drove about 50 miles to the capital Charleston, West Virginia to enjoy the color leaves and do some shopping..We bought a new Computer... A lot of mts. and valleys so it really was beautiful.. However, the color is NOT at it's ' peak' though the t.v. advertises it such.. Another week and it will REALLY be great!!!
The dome of the capital of West Virginia is larger than the Nation's Capital's... It is covered with a gold color!!!
Why this picture?? We have been faithfully BOYCOTTING McDonald's for about 6 months because of their association and support of GAYS... A lot of Christians did... Today they called the Boycott off as McDonald's finally realized it wasn't a profitable thing to do. Praise God!!!
This is the color outside our window.... It is so beautiful what God has made!!!
Tim is preaching at the old church in 1607 Jamestown... The benches were high and stiff backs.. Good thing his sermon was short...
We FINALLY decided to settle down and buy some real estate.. like our new home? an indian home at Jamestown, Va. 1607!!!
This is a view of inside our home.. deer skins couch...
The girls at the wax museum with the Jonas Brothers. If you do not know the Jonas Brothers, ask your kids or grandkids...
This is the house where Lincoln died after he was carried across the street from Ford Theatre where he was shot... We actually went in the back bedroom where he died... very small room..
The 'changing of the guards' ...very impressive moment...
At the wax museum, Tab and the girls just had to ' goof off''... They were in the ' oval office'..
