It was really bad roads all the way up here on Sunday afternoon but when we arrived , they had planned a party with Ben's brother's family and his Mom. They had fixed all kinds of delicious Chinese food!!!! Sounds like everyone is having a good Christmas...

Here it is after Christmas and I have not blogged... We made it to Kristy's safely in the midst of snow, ice and LOTS of bad traffic. Was one bad accident on I-75 by Flint and they took everyone off the express way... Received lots of nice gifts.... a pot and pan set... etc. At 3: we checked into a beautiful motel in West Branch... WARM pool !!!! Kristy brought all kinds of food as there were NO restaurants opened... Played games, swam, ate..... The motel was a family room with 5 beds in 2 rooms.... The next day, we went shopping, B. King, movies and got home by evening... We have sure enjoyed the grandkids... We plan to leave in the morning after church for New Berry but not sure about the weather.... It is really snowy and icy now.... Elizabeth said to write that she really likes my new computer..... I pray that you all had a great Christmas and celebrated Jesus birthday!!

About 2000 miles to Newberry, Mi. When we get back we head straight to Mark's to hopefully sign the final papers for the house in Cape Coral.. so have to pack clothes for Mi. ( freezing ) Tn. ( about 60* ) and Ft Myers ( 80* ).. also have to defrost freezer, do all laundry, say good bye to Sowers, and pack things away in the m.h. .. not to mention today is our 43rd Anniversary and we have NO time to celebrate... plan to go out for a steak dinner Friday when we are on the road.... I never did get a picture of the armadillo but they say it was under our m.h. different times.....It is nice to get Christmas cards delivered to Mark's place as I call every day and Tabitha reads them to me. We always have a running contest to see who gets the most Christmas cards... I think I am ahead with 24....But they get a lot from their church people. I'll try to blog when I am on the road but not sure how easy that will be... Have to go check my dryer.. LOVE

Wishing EVERYONE who reads my blog... a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

Week-end in Ft. Myers

We had a good week end with our son's family in Ft. Myers. We drove down there ( 230 miles ) early Friday morning. They fixed a delicious Christmas dinner for Friday eve. We were very happy with the gifts they gave us... On Saturday, we spent time with the Realtor and ended up putting a 'bit' on a house. Not sure how that will turn out but it would be a lovely home for us ... has a pool and a spa... In the evening, we watched the girls while Mark and Tab attended a Christmas party... Took them to Taco Bell, played cards and watched a Christmas movie.... On Sunday, we attended their church. After ,we went over to see the house again, we ate at Chi Chi's Pizza.... and started for home. On the way we stopped in Venice to visit my Aunt Mary.. was late when we got home... Today we worked on another " mailing "... only 3 more work days and then we plan to go to Tn. and Mi. for Christmas!!!! We hear all about the COLD and SNOW up there... The temperature here has been unusually warm... 80* today!!!! I have only got 1 comment on my ' dancing elfs'.. don't you think it is CUTE?

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Today we worked on a 250 piece mailing. That only took us to break time so the ladies drove into town for a few hours to shop and lunch.. We had lunch at a real neat cafe called THE WAY CAFE. It was definitely Christian.. every one of their menu items were named after a Bible name.... like Acts, John ,Ester, Paul , etc. If you ordered a sandwich and a beverage, you could buy a piece of homemade pie for $1.00..... So I bought a piece of lemon to bring home to Tim... Tomorrow we work on another mailing of 2000 pieces.... It is real nice weather here and almost are breaking records for this time of year... Tonight we played 3-15 card game and Tim won!! Tomorrow night the plans are Captain D's for supper and then Wal Mart for a few groceries... The project is 1/2 over today...

Merry Christmas from sunny Florida!!! We are wishing you and yours a wonderful Season to celebrate the birth of Jesus!!! Today we attended the little Wesleyan church not far from here. They had a special Christmas program with a trio named " Hope Street" who sang carols acapella. We even bought 2 CD'S. . They were very good and dressed like old fashion carolers. Then we went to Lake Square Mall to ate lunch and walked over 10,000 steps. Home to nap, read, t v, write and calls. Getting rested up for work tomorrow. Not sure what work we will do as the Director is still in Ca. until Tuesday. Our Sower group is going to host a Christmas pot luck opn Thursday for all the Sowers in the area. On Friday we plan to drive down to Mark's to celebrate Christmas with them. We will stop in Venice and visit my Aunt Mary... Keep in touch!!!

Camp Horizon

This is the road that leads back to Camp Horizon.. It is very spooky with trees covered with spanish moss. Once you get back to the camp, it is very sunny and on a lovely lake and lots of open space and nice buildings...
There are lots of orange trees on the property... I have squeezed lots of oranges for juice last week.... I still have not been able to take a picture of the armadillo.. just wait.

Saturday, December 6, 2008

Hi.. The wordless Wednesday picture was the Sower ladies at work. We had to sort LOTS of pairs of shoes that Publix's had donated to the camp. We had to remove all tags... We had boxes to do... It is very nice weather here.. 75* most days... though NO ONE wants to go in the pool... We keep seeing an armadillo around but I never have the camera at the right time... one of these days... Everyone must be REAL busy as not so many blogs lately. Our kids met for a short visit in West Branch, Mi. Mark called and said " it is COLD!!!" No wonder Tim does not want to go north for Christmas... Carole

Wordless Wednesday

We have been busy working in the kitchen.. helping them get ready for their daughter's wedding. Yesterday we made 1500 chicken nuggets. Ugh! By the time they decided to have chicken and salad for lunch... I could not look at any more chicken... It has been cold here lately... but warms up in the day to 65*....Tonight we plan to go out to eat at Captain D's as it is " Senior Night"... There is a lot of activities plan ... church Christmas programs, bell choirs and a Christmas parade this Saturday... Today for Devotions, Tim ask us to tell of a " God Spy" moment.... As we look at things during the day, we are to see God in it... I chose to think of Jesus near Lake Galilee as I look at beautiful Lake Harris out my window... If not that, then I think of Zacchaeus climbing one of these spanish moss covered trees... Are you getting ready for Christmas? We have some decorations up and our Christmas letter mailed out... Merry Christmas!! Carole

Merry Christmas!!!

I'm trying to get in the Christmas mood so today I wore my Christmas vest to church. We attended the big Baptist church in Leesburg.... it was good! We had a great week at Mark and Tab's in Ft. Myers.. made Christmas cookies, peanut butter pie, played a lot of board games, helped with some home schooling and really enjoyed the grand kids.. We enjoyed Thanksgiving at Tabitha's Mom home. She always has it so nice and is so hospitable... Thanks Sherry!!! Left on Friday to drive 240 miles to Ocala to pick up the m.h. Just pulled into Camp Horizon by dark... There are 5 couples here and ALL are originally from Michigan.. ( one couple moved to Wi. ) We have only been here 2 days and have already went out to eat with them 2 times . Not sure the women will have a lot of work as the Directors are very busy. ( Their daughter is graduating from college and getting married all in December. .. so their thoughts are else where.).. This makes the 4th time we have been here over the years so we kinda know the area and the camp. We can sit in our m.h. and see the beautiful Lake Harrris....There are a lot of spanish moss hanging from the trees and some alligators ( though we have not seen any lately ).. I have been busy trying to get my traditional Christmas letter out and the birthday cards ( We have a lot in December. ) We have still not heard anything about the house.... Merry Christmas!!!

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Today we tried a new church and attended the Missionary Alliance Church but it was not like this church.. It was a beautiful building and very friendly people and pastor... We visited that church because it is close to the house IF we end up getting that house... Today we drove by and took pictures.... We have been enjoying staying in Mark and Tabitha's house for 3 days while they are up in Orlando and Sea World.. They are coming back home tonight. We are staying here for the week as our m.h. is in the repair shop...A week from tomorrow we start our new Sower project at Camp Horizon over at Leesburg ( north of Disney )... This will be our 4th time there s o we really enjoy Kitty, Steve and Ralph ... Carole

It has been COLD in the morning... but warms up in the afternoon to about 70*....We leave in the morning for Ocala to drop off the m.h. for repairs and head for a week at Ft.Myers.... Hope it is warmer there. It usually is by 5-10 *.....My snowmen for Wordless Wednesday are the display we got for free for having our prescription filled at Wal Green.... Tasting night at Publix's

This is the only picture we got at Publix's before the batteries quit... They had lots of food to sample... even peppermint ice cream, egg nog, pastries, yogurt, and a complete plate of ham, dressing, sweet potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole... like nothing you have ever seen... or tasted in a grocery tasting... This is me, Sharon, Santa and Eve.. Our granddaughter Jessica got her 4 point buck the first day of deer hunting... Only 2 more days of work... It really looks like Christmas around here as they put up lots of lights for the Christmas program...

How Great is our GOD!!!

WOW!!! How Great is our GOD!!!! Trying to get your thoughts on bigger things .... Today was good.. Tim and I and Bill painted in the dining hall and finished about 1/2 of the job. Everyone else had to work outside and it was COLD!!! The ladies met this afternoon and shared their craft ideas and talked.. Tomorrow night , we do a FUN thing... at least it was fun when we did it 3 years ago... We all go to Publix's ( grocery store ) and they have a Christmas tasting party..They really do it up BIG and have carolers, Frosty, Santa and lots of samples to try.. egg nog, hot cider, punch, fancy cookies and cheesecakes, etc.. It is a cheap but fun outing.. We took pictures and all.... Looking forward to that ... I'll try to blog some pictures... My pool parties are over as it is forecast for COOLER weather the rest of the time we are here... Friday.... I notice that a lot of you have not been posting lately.. Must be very busy!!!

Sunday, November 16, 2008

I love this picture!!! This has been a good day in the Lord!!! We attended a good service this morning at Blessed Hope Baptist.. Was invited to a pot luck at a ladies' home.. about 25 of us... Delicious food!!! Then we went out to the garage to see the baby chicks they just had delivered yesterday...so cute!!! Tim and I went shopping and because I had my prescription filled at Wal Green ( for the first time ) they gave us an in- store check for $25. We had fun buying stuff we really did not need... including a cute snowman display.. After we got back to the m.h. some friends from New Brunswick ( Sandy and Elmer ) came over for a visit... It is COLD out ( 45* ) so the heater sure feels good!!!! Only 4 more working days...Have a great week ....

Krispy Kreme

I had a hard time getting this picture but I had to have a picture to go along with this blog... Did you know that if the circle sign is lite up on Krispy Kremes... you can go in and watch the glazed donuts being made.. and at the end of the belt... the lady hands you a FREE warm glazed donut.. Of course they want you to buy more but you don't have to.. Just thought you might like to know this important information... They must do it all over the country as we have been to Alabama and also Texas.... Carole

Fun Friday

Not more then 5 minutes ago, we all gathered outside in the road in front of the m.h. to see the space shuttle launch.. It was amazing!!! It was a bright light in the sky and then you could see a bright rocket in the sky.. traveling up toward the moon... AMAZING!!!!! Went to Apple Bee's for supper... steak and ribs ... uummmm!!!! Went to the pool today while our laundry was washing.. also got a lot of errands finished.. so a very good day!!! I even got all the floors mopped and vacuumed.. of course not much to do in a m.h......Temperature suppose to dropped overnight... So much for the pool...

3 days off...

Now for 3 days off... We have had beautiful weather lately but by Saturday it is suppose to turn cool.. 70's... Today the humidity was 81 and temp. was 86* so work was REAL hot... We did get all the work finished that they ask. 40 new kids are coming down from N. York tomorrow so the dining hall will be more crowded . The pool was so inviting!!! Finally 1 lady agreed to go swimming with me and later another one also joined us... The water was so refreshing... I am the oldest woman here and the only one who wants to swim all the time. I am always asking them to ' meet me at the pool'.... so today 2 did... We have been inviting to Sunday dinner at Bob and Barb's home. They always invite the Sowers over once per project... On Monday, Tim and I are starting to paint the dining hall. That should take the rest of the week.... At least we will be working in a.c. and not out in this HOT weather!!

Wordless Wednesday on Thursday

What a Day!!!

Today was fun as the women did not got to work.... Of course we need to work extra tomorrow IF we plan to get the rooms all cleaned by Thursday so they can move in Friday. 40 kids come down from their sister college at Schroon Lake, New York to practice and put on a huge but professional Christmas play... We have seen it 2 other years and it is GREAT!!! The 'Word of Life' invited us to a special breakfast this morning.. to welcome and honor us Sowers... Then when the guys went to work.. we drove into town to shop and have lunch at The Whole Note... Seems like it was started 37 years ago by a music teacher.... They built 2 round rooms for her house when they started out. As they had children, they added more round rooms... with halls connecting them.. Looks like whole musical notes... After 8 children, they built 7 round rooms and porches and a pool.. Then she opened the restaurant... Same menu every Tuesday... same every Wednesday, etc.. Today was French onion soup, broccoli quiche, salad, home made breads, ice teas and homemade pies. Cost $7.00 for as much as you wanted... The grand daughter gave us a special tour of the house... nice but too much clutter for me.. She also did ceramics so the house was filled with them and pictures everywhere... I would not like to live there. I like things very simple.... After, we went shopping and to a Yankee Candle Shop... After work, Tim and I ran into town to McDonald's for today's special.... buy one burger.. get one for one cent... So I ate out all 3 meals today!!! We had our Sower 'group picture ' taken tonight and then all 14 of us played games. This group really likes to socialize.. They have planned another picnic for Saturday and a museum and watch the sunset over Tampa Bay.... I'll probably be too tired tomorrow night to blog but I will try to blog Wordless Wednesday!! Carole

We spent the week end in Ft. Myers and Cape Coral looking at homes for Sale. There are hundreds of houses but our realtor only showed us 6 .. So far we have choose one to put an offer on . Too early to write much about it as it may be a long time if and when we get it as it is a ' short sale ' and the banks are s-l-o-w------ But IF we do buy that one, it would be a very nice home for us. It has a pool and a hot tub...Mark and Tabitha LOVE it...No.. we are not ' going off the road' or quitting our agenda.. Just slowing down somewhat and enjoying - the Florida life style'!!!!!! We attended the Free Methodist Church in Cape Corral. A lot has changed since we were last there.... music leader, people, etc. Only recognized a few.... Tomorrow starts the 2nd. week of this project. The people are very friendly, the food is delicious!!! the weather is warm and the work is easy ( for me.. harder for Tim ).... pool is GREAT!!!!! The Sower ladies are going out for a lunch on Tuesday to ' The Whole Note '... From the air , this house looks like a whole note in music.. The lady serves lunch from her private home only from 11:30-1:00... Cost $5. for the basic and then $1.00 for each extra: bread, quiche, salad, etc... Different concept.... Have to try it out... Taught the grandkids a new card game.... BOSS.. And I must say they won almost every time!!! So much for that idea... Waiting for comments.. Carole

The turkey walking

I have nothing to blog about but I have to blog because the turkey was walking on the Bible.. then after I blogged the pie recipe, he walked all over it.. now he is walking all over Santa's face so I figured if I just write some words.. he would walk on them.... Now, how am I going to blog any pictures in the future??? Carole

The kneeling Santa

I have always loved this picture where Santa is worshipping Baby JESUS !!! Are you getting ready for Christmas??? Only 49 more days...

No bake peanut butter pie !!!!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie !!!!!

4 oz. cream cheese ( soften )
1 cup confectionery sugar (XXXX powder sugar )
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/2 cup milk
8 ounces cool whip (thawed)
1 deep dish graham cracker or chocolate pie crush

In a large bowl combine cream cheese and XXXX sugar.. blend well.. add peanut butter and blend... slowly add milk and blend.. fold in cool whip.. pour into pie shell, cover and freeze at
least 30 minutes... drizzle chocolate over top before serving... ummmm !!!!

Today is the last day of work for this week. They have a TON of jobs they want done but there is no way we can get them ALL done... So we did our best and now we have 3 days off to relax and vacation. The pool and hot tub are open but I can not convince anyone to go in swimming . Maybe I'll go alone just before Tim gets off work. We leave early in the morning to drive to Ft. Myers ( over 3 hours ) to meet with a realtor to look at homes in Cape Coral. There are hundreds of really nice homes for a reasonable price... We have our eye on a few... we will see how it goes tomorrow... So we have to miss the picnic at Tarpon Springs on Saturday.... It did turn cool for a few days but is HOT again... The election was a disappointment but GOD KNOWS!!!! Gotta go.. the pool is calling.... Carole

Word of Life Bible College... Hudson, Florida

One day down and 11 to go!! We are settled at Word of Life Bible College near Hudson, Fl. ( north of Tampa ).... There are 7 couples here and this time we did not know any of them... It has turned a warm 80* today. They have paired us off by couples to work.. a little unusual... Tim and I are painting the entry to the dining hall and another meeting room... They furnish us a nice ' break' and also a nice lunch.... Some of the others are cleaning cabins way back in the woods so I guess we got the better job.. They have a lot planned for these 3 weeks... ladies tea house, shopping at thrift stores, picnic at Tarpon Springs and shopping in Greek village ( It was famous for diving for sponges...) birthday party, game nights, church together and restaurants..... Tomorrow is the BIG day .. VOTING !!!! I pray that God has control of it all as I know HE does....

Rock Hill, South Caroline

We sure enjoyed our company.. Frank and Peggy.. We laughed so much and were ' rolling on the floor'... We had very COLD weather and they predicted snow!!! We drove back to the Bridge but this time drove across it instead of walking.... Played cards with the Sowers that hadn't left yet... Most of them went back home on Friday but 2 stayed as they are headed toward Memphis on Tuesday for next project. We sold one of our sofa as we plan to buy a swivel chair and build a computer desk in the space... On Thursday, the college put on a real nice luncheon for the Sowers and gave us a $20. certificate to their Book Store... We left W. Va. at 10:00 this morning and traveled south through Va. ( small area ) and North Carolina and have stopped for the night in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It is much warmer here !!!! Plan to be in Ocala, Florida by tomorrow night and on to Ft. Myers on Monday... A few days of vacation with Mark and Tab. before out 58th project begins at 'Word of Life " north of Tampa... I'm sure I'll write about that later...

All 19 Sowers at Appalachian Bible College

This is the first picture that I have been able to send from our new computer.. I have a lot to learn about how to use it... This is our group picture after supper tonight. We sometimes wait until toward the last but one couple in our group is leaving tomorrow. Ron slipped on the grass watching a soccer game and broke 2 ribs.. so as long as he can't work for 3 weeks, they decided to go home.... Only 3 more days..

More colored leaves

The blue parachute was one that ended up in the water. They had boats out there to rescue them... Bet the water was COLD!!! This is the river they use for ' white water rapids '.
There are a lot of hills and mts. in W.Va. Any time we drive any where, we have to drive up and down.. We are 3200' elevation..
We drove back to Charleston on Saturday. It is 60 miles through the mts. A few small towns down in the valleys.. The towns are long and narrow as there are mts. on both sides.. most are only 4 blocks wide... quaint white steepled churches and coal mines.... now I understand why so much coal is mined in W.Va........ lots of mts.
We are especially enjoying the fall color as we have not been around it for the past few years. Last year in October, we were in OK. and the year before we were in Missouri , before that we were in Alabama and in '04 we were out in Oregon....but it has been COLD here and we are anxious to head for Florida!!!!

leaves..library..and .Bridge Day

The fall color is at it's peak now! There are very few reds in this area but mainly browns and gold!!! A camera does not do it justice...
Selma and I working in the library.. Only 4 more days to go.. We may finish 1 of the 3 rooms... I have checked out a lot of books for Tim and me to read these 3 weeks..
On Saturday we went with 2 other couples to the New River Gorge Bridge Day. It was COLD but no rain.. There were thousands of people there. Along the bridge they had vendors selling crafts, giving away Bibles, tracts, Obama junk, water bottles and also selling food... That was quite reasonably priced.. We got a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw ( right on the top of the meat.. that is how they serve hamburgs, hot dogs and BBQ's... in West Virginia)..... This is the river below the Bridge as we looked over. There was only parachuting when we were there... The newspaper said 19 were injured in the jumps.. about 1/2 landed in the water with their parachutes... Some jumped in pairs or 3 or 4 and didn't open their chutes until the last minute!!! CRAZY!!!!
As you can tell I am wearing my winter coat and have 2 pair of pants on to keep warm.. It did warm up a little out on the Bridge in the sun..
My certificate to show that I really did walk the Bridge.. over and back... It was over 3000 feet one way plus back to the shuttle bus... Was build in 1977 and is the highest steel trestle bridge East of the Mississippi.... We really had a fun time on Saturday.. Only 4 more days of work and then we will be saying good bye and traveling south to Florida on Saturday.... sunshine!!!

Wednesday

Guess it has been a while since I have blogged... We have been trying to figure out our new computer... and printer.... I did not go to work on Tuesday as my right ankle hurt so I tried to stay on the couch most of the day. We have had lovely weather lately but I am afraid that will soon come to an end tomorrow... In fact for The Bridge Day on Saturday it is suppose to be rainy and only 50*.... Tomorrow after work, the women plan a time out to the Tamarack for dessert and shopping... Have played cards ( SLUFF ) a lot and the guys aways seem to win....I have really enjoyed the blogs lately... A lot of good pictures and writing... The leaves are really beautiful now so went out tonight and took a video of the campus... Sorry that I did not get around to posting a wordless Wednesday...We are still enjoying great meals at the dining hall every night.. and it makes it especially nice not to have to do dishes.... Our country is in a very bad way and we all need to pray and call upon GOD!!!

Busy week-end!!!

What a busy week end!!! As I have already written, on Friday Tim and I went to Charleston to see the fall leaves and to buy a Computer. HP 3 BG Memory, 320 hard drive, etc. We have a USB cord from Verizon so we can usually get Internet every where..... Now we have 2 computers... a desk type and a lap top... On Saturday, I attended a Ladies' Retreat here at the college with the other 8 Sower ladies. The speaker was interesting enough and the luncheon was fabulous!!! Then the music was 2 solos.. very professional and a Bell Choir.... On Sunday, we went back to the Freedom Baptist S.School and church and stayed for the Pastor's Appreciation pot luck... Good food !!!! Friendly people !!! After a brief Sunday nap, we had a birthday celebration with ice cream sundaes and played games... Back to work today and enjoying the lovely weather... My right arm hurts from moving such heavy library books .... Now they predict cold and rainy weather for Saturday's Bridge Day!!!! The leaves are really turning... Gas is 3.29@ but heard that it is under $3.00@ in Michigan... Enjoy the comments.. Carole

Color leaves... gold domes.. McDonalds

Today Tim and I drove about 50 miles to the capital Charleston, West Virginia to enjoy the color leaves and do some shopping..We bought a new Computer... A lot of mts. and valleys so it really was beautiful.. However, the color is NOT at it's ' peak' though the t.v. advertises it such.. Another week and it will REALLY be great!!!
The dome of the capital of West Virginia is larger than the Nation's Capital's... It is covered with a gold color!!!
Why this picture?? We have been faithfully BOYCOTTING McDonald's for about 6 months because of their association and support of GAYS... A lot of Christians did... Today they called the Boycott off as McDonald's finally realized it wasn't a profitable thing to do. Praise God!!!
This is the color outside our window.... It is so beautiful what God has made!!!

Tamarack... laundry... library

Another post with no pictures... Sunday was fun as we went to a Baptist church and they were very friendly . We plan to go back there on Sunday and stay for a pot luck for Pastor's Appreciation... Then we ate lunch at a fabulous restaurant Tamarack.. The best of West Virginia!!! It was a very rich version of a Cracker Barrel and 4 X as large.. The food was the only reasonable thing there for sale.... good and large portions.... Monday started work... 2 people were sick with flu and one couple got an emergency call from their kids in S. Caroline ( may have to leave the project ) so we were off to a good ( ? ) start.. We went to check out the library where I will work and they were busy and said No Work today. Take the day off.. Would I complain??? I did get to spent the afternoon doing 2 weeks of laundry and reading a Karen Kingsbury novel...For supper we were invited to eat all suppers with the college students... Wow!! They did not have food like that when I was in college!!!! So guess that will be a challenge every night at supper... Some of the Sowers are planning a 'white water rapids' trip ( on a very slow river ).. We plan games tonight but quitting early enough to watch the Debates! The women have been invited to a ladies' luncheon on Saturday but Tim and had already planned to drive up to the capitol Charleston to shop...Today Edith and I worked in the library dusting and sorting books and videos... We will NEVER get the job done as they have 3 HUGE rooms of books.. Sower friends called and plan to come see us the last day of the project and stay over 2 days...This is a wonderful place to work and be involved a little in the college life... God is good!!

Fun filled Saturday

Today was a good day in that the weather warmed up and we got to attend the movie' Fireproof'... It IS a very good movie!!! We highly recommend it and will buy the tickets for any of our 4 children and spouse to see it.. It would be worth it... check it out!!! We had to skip the Chili cook-off down town to catch the movie BUT heard it was REALLY crowded anyway.... Had our Sower meeting this morning and sounds like lots of work and lots of fun planned!!! 2 weeks from today is the BIG BRIDGE DAY... They really do it up big!!! 40 vendors, crafts, bungee jumping, zip line, parachuting off the bridge.... The only day you are allowed to walk on the bridge... Big plans for tomorrow.. church, restaurant Tamarack ( suppose to be special ) tour of campus at 3:00 and hot dog roast and birthday party at 6:00 ... Where is time for my nap??? Carole

Appalachian Bible College... West Virginia

I don't have a picture to post today. We are settled into our next project... have met all the other Sowers... sounds like it will be a good project. We are about 5 miles from Beckley, W. Va. They have a Super Wal Mart, Ryans, Chinese, big movie theatre, Logan's Steak and even a restaurant for Steak Escape.. ( We have only seen them in Malls. ) The next large town is 50 miles... capitol Charleston.... All but 3 of the 9 couples have been here at ABC ( Appalachian Bible College ) a number of times.... The other 2 couples are sisters from Niagara Falls and we have worked with them before... I really like them.. Carol and Selma... There are 3 Carols here and 2 Daves... Guess they want to call me Carol Lee... I was afraid that we might not get cell phone, Internet or t.v. as we are at 3,200' elevation. But we get 3 bars and a few t.v. stations.... Good thing we have some good DVD's... The movie ' Fireproof ' is on at the movie so the Sowers plan to all go together to see it. I read that it is THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!! Hope you get a chance to see it... Let us all know what you thought of it... It has been cool but promises to warm up tomorrow...Love your comments... Carole

Jamestown and Wax Museum

Tim is preaching at the old church in 1607 Jamestown... The benches were high and stiff backs.. Good thing his sermon was short...
We FINALLY decided to settle down and buy some real estate.. like our new home? an indian home at Jamestown, Va. 1607!!!
This is a view of inside our home.. deer skins couch...
The girls at the wax museum with the Jonas Brothers. If you do not know the Jonas Brothers, ask your kids or grandkids...
This is the house where Lincoln died after he was carried across the street from Ford Theatre where he was shot... We actually went in the back bedroom where he died... very small room..
The 'changing of the guards' ...very impressive moment...
At the wax museum, Tab and the girls just had to ' goof off''... They were in the ' oval office'..
